13.2Candor — the no-lies-to-courts rule (Rule 3.3)
"Tribunal" includes courts, arbitrators in binding arbitration, and legislative or administrative bodies acting in an adjudicative capacity. Rule 3.3 also applies when the lawyer is representing a client in an ancillary proceeding conducted pursuant to the tribunal's adjudicative authority, such as a deposition (Comment [1]). Rule 3.3(c): the duties stated in paragraphs (a) and (b) continue to the conclusion of the proceeding, and they apply even if compliance requires disclosing information otherwise protected by Rule 1.6.
